What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Educator position at UHS?
San Marcos Treatment Center, a 212-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located between Austin and San Antonio in the heart of Central Texas! San Marcos spreads across 65-acres with an abundance of trees and wildlife. We have 13 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development levels with two swimming pools, two gymnasiums, sports court, playing fields, ropes course, canteen, social area, and a healing trail. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 6 to 17 with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning.
Nurse Educator - RN
The Nurse Educator is a full time position to enhance professional practices and the provisions of quality patient care by providing evidence-based quality educational programs and activities that promote professional competency for nursing.
Qualifications
Qualifications: A Master's or doctoral degree in nursing - preferred. A Certified Nurse Education Certification - preferred. A Registered Nurse license - required. A strong clinicl background - required. A working knowledge of the theories of education and learning to design curricula - required. Current working knowledge of clinical procedures and protocols - required. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills - required.
Licensure/Certification: Current Texas Registered Nurse License.
Skills: Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions of patients. Knowledge of milieu management and the ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, work independently and productively with minimum supervision. Must be able to relate to and work with the, emotionally upset, varying age population, and at times, hostile people with the facility. Knowledge of the Joint Commission standards and take a lead during the inspections. Knowledge in all Nursing documentation. Ability to direct subordinates (or as delegated by the DON) in the performance of their duties. Must possess the ability and willingness to work professionally with other personnel, patients, family members. Must possess skills and technical knowledge in HCS , etc.
