What are the responsibilities and job description for the PHYSICIAN position at UHS?
The Staff Psychiatrist demonstrates competency in providing services to assigned patients and provides direct patient treatment, ensuring that all new patients are seen within 24 hours of admission, and makes rounds on a regular basis. Participates in treatment planning, implementation and monitoring. This position establishes diagnoses utilizing DSM-V nomenclature, orders appropriate lab studies, and prescribes medications providing medication monitoring and management. Provides 24-hour on-call coverage. Reports promptly and participates in all regularly scheduled meetings. The Staff Psychiatrist represents the facility and Medical Staff with outside agencies, managed care companies and other treatment facilities. Additionally, this position participates in outcome monitoring; Peer Review, Quality Improvement, Risk Management, and Patient Safety Initiatives.
Qualifications
Education: Florida Board certified MD specializing in Psychiatry
Experience: Must have 2 - 3 years' patient treatment experience with children, adolescents and adults
License: Florida License as a Psychiatrist as issued by the Florida Department of Health.
Skills:
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills in order to combine assessments, treatment planning and intervention into a meaningful document. Must be able to communicate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, managed care representatives, children, adolescents, adults and residents’ families in a clean and concise manner.
- Must have knowledge of individual, group and family therapy dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic, communication and role expectations within the family system.
- Must have good clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the context of the overall treatment plan.
- Must have the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of child and adolescent needs, knowledge of growth and development stages and possess an understanding of the range of treatment needed by this age group.
- Must have leadership abilities.
- Must be flexible.
Physical Requirements:Position requires good mental attitude. The work demands long hours of sitting with some bending and lifting of supplies, paper, medical records, etc. Some physical confrontation and/or restraint may be necessary when dealing with residents.
