What are the responsibilities and job description for the Precertification Specialist position at UHS?
Wellstone Regional Hospital is a 100-bed acute care facility located in Jeffersonville, Indiana and has been providing quality health care to the residents of Southern Indiana and the Louisville area since 2003. Wellstone specializes in the treatment of Adolescents, Children, Adults, and the CD population. In addition to our in-patient services, we offer out-patient programs as well. Wellstone currently has an opening for a full-time Precertification Specialist UM Department.
The Precertification Specialist is responsible for maintaining individual payer files to include up to date requirements needed to successfully obtain authorizations for care and treatment. Also assists with back-up for discharge planning as needed.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health or other behavioral health sciences. Good communication (verbal and written) skills are essential. Able to work independently and collegially with all clinical disciplines. Has knowledge of regulatory and reimbursement requirements. Able to monitor and evaluate records for quality and appropriateness of care. Has basic computer skills.
Education: HS Diploma, Bachelor Degree preferred.
Experience: Prefer a year of of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness.
Licensure: None required.
Additional Requirements: May be required to work overtime and flexible hours when needed.
Hours of Work: 7:30am-4:00pm and other times as indicated by immediate supervisor.
