Quality Coordinator

Quality Coordinator reports to the Director of Quality, the Regulatory/Patient Safety Coordinator will plan, coordinate, facilitate, and attend meetings associated with the activities of regulatory and patient safety. The Coordinator will demonstrate organizational skills, motivation and initiative by planning and completing routine tasks, projects and special assignments in a timely manner; maintains organizational compliance with hospital, regulatory, The Joint Commission, and center of excellence standards. They will remain knowledgeable of regulatory standards of CMS, SC DHEC, TJC and other licensing and accrediting organizations associated with the hospital.
Duties:
- Oversee all regulatory activities for organization to include (hospital, surgery center, behavioral health services, laboratory services, and all associated facilities):
- Host quarterly Mock surveys at hospital and bi-annual surveys at surgery center
- Lead regulatory compliance committee
- Partner with leaders to ensure organizational compliance
- Participate in corporate regulatory activities
- Maintain knowledge of standards for all regulatory bodies, update leaders/organization as standards change or are added
- Oversee and manage the tracer program, creating action plans with unit leaders to address deficiencies
- Prepare and maintain all documents for regulatory surveys
- Escort surveyors during onsite reviews
- Attend staff meetings/huddles/orientation to prepare organization for survey
- Provide executive updates to senior team
- Implement and executive strategies to maintain ongoing regulatory preparedness
- Write and respond to regulatory body corrective action plans
- Host Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) at least three per year
- Assist with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) action plan follow through, partner with Director of Risk and Quality
- Assist Director of Risk with TERM survey preparations
- Collaborate with Quality Improvement Coordinators to integrate process improvement strategies

Qualifications
Requirements:
Education requirements: Degree in accredited Registered Nursing Program; BSN preferred.
Work experience requirements: Current clinical knowledge, Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in acute care setting within the last 5 years with increasing level of responsibility.
Required licenses/ certifications/courses Current SC or compact state license
Required skills, knowledge and abilities: Knowledge of healthcare quality initiatives and regulatory guidelines. Prior experience in regulatory and patient safety preferred. Data abstraction from medical records. Computer skills including, but not limited to, word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), data entry and management as necessary for web-based programs, and familiarity with working within network systems.
