Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health invites applications for the position of Registered Nurse. Located in Norfolk Virginia, Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is a leading community partner providing acute, residential, and Partial Hospitalization treatment for children and teens exhibiting behavioral and/or mental health concerns. The hospital is dedicated to providing high quality care to children, adolescents and their families. We provide quality care to children and adolescents in need, using quality, evidence based practice treatments. Founded in 1986, Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is an 82-bed hospital facility accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC), and licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). As leading healthcare providers here at Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health, we require all employees to be fully vaccinated. Position Scope:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of nursing care on assigned unit for residents and patients. Adheres to Nursing Standards and Policies, Facility Policies and Procedures and the Nurse Practice Act.
This position is PRN and requires one shift per week and every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday).
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for nursing care based on the nursing process and in compliance with facility policies and procedures.
- Monitor, report, and document the residents’/patients’ behavior and physiological status.
- Administer medications and performs treatments/procedures in compliance with facility and nursing services, policies, and procedures.
- Guide the response to residents who are behaviorally out of control or who may be experiencing a medical or behavioral crisis in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, Medical Staff with delineated privileges and Physician.
- Responsible for demonstrating clinical competence in the delivery of direct patient care and the implementation of the milieu management program.
- Report accurately and concisely to oncoming shifts regarding conditions of residents both medically and psychiatrically.
Qualifications
Education:
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing, which confers RN, AD, or Diploma in Nursing.
Experience:
Prefer experience with children and adolescents in psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program.
Licensure/Certification:
Licensed by Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse, CPR certification, or able to complete certification.
