LANGUAGE ARTS/ENGLISH/READING TEACHER grades 6th -12th.
Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home.
The Language Arts, English, and Reading Teacher will structure a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the varied needs and interest of the students. The teacher will use their knowledge of student development to be flexible and responsive to student learning by adjusting lessons, responding to student individual needs, and persisting in providing a variety of approaches when students have difficulties. Knowledge of ESE process as all students acquire an IEP while in the Hospital/Homebound setting.
The Hospital/Homebound school within the facility contracts with the Manatee County school district to provide a small classroom educational environment to residential patients. A 4:1 student to staff ratio is maintained throughout the school day for behavior support in the classroom with additional support from on-site psychiatrists, a board certified behavior analyst, therapists and a full medical team. We follow required state and county rules and regulations for a Hospital/Homebound site.
Teachers are employees of the facility and not under a teacher contract/re-negotiation.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college or university.
Certification: Florida Department of Education certification for English (6-12) and Reading (K-12) or ability to meet this requirement. ESE certification required or ability to meet this requirement.
Knowledge of educational theories and classroom teaching strategies. Ability to work with multi-level/multi-grade students in small class environment. Computer literacy. Commitment to facility mission and policies
Additional Requirements: Must adhere to all facility and school board policies. Pass a Level 2 background check and pre-employment drug screen. Comply with CMS COVID regulations.
