Position Title LIS ANALYST Bell Hospital Position Summary / Career Interest: The Laboratory Information System Analyst is responsible for the overall health through maintenance and change management, of the software operating and contributing to the Laboratory Information System infrastructure. The LIS Analyst assists the LIS Manager in the support of the laboratory information system and acts as backup in the absence of the LIS Manager. Responsibilities: Instructs, orients and mentors students, employees, residents and physicians for information system applications. Must be able to demonstrate participation and involvement in the implementation of system upgrades, enhancements and new acquisitions of laboratory information systems. This includes but is not limited to design, installation, validation & regression testing, training, documentation and migration. Maintains industry knowledge for all regulations applicable to the laboratory information systems. Contributes to inspection readiness and participates in the preparations leading up to an inspection. In the absence of the LIS manager or when assigned, assists with regulatory inspections. Follows regulatory, accreditation, safety and hospital standards, policies and procedures. Assists in the management of billing, the reconciliation of billing issues, report generation, and billing interface viability. Utilizes SQL tools to develop and generate ad hoc reports for data collection, interfaces and other objectives to support day to day operations of the lab. Must be able to demonstrate participation and involvement in the implementation of new and updated database maintenance for the laboratory information systems. This includes but is not limited to the research, design, installation, testing, training, documentation, migration, and troubleshooting of all new and updated software LIS Change requests related to the laboratory information systems. This includes, but is not limited to application, billing, reference lab, instrument and other interfaces. Demonstrates the utilization of the organizational tracking system when conducting these events. Demonstrates the effective and efficient management of all projects to ensure projects are executed accurately, collaboratively and timely for all projects assigned. Maintains availability for LIS on Call rotation, off hours support and LIS Support Desk. Demonstrates the utilization of the organizational tracking system when conducting these events. Maintains the use of change management policies and procedures for the organization and department. *Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department. *Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge to provide software and technical assistance for information system applications utilized by the department. This includes, but is not limited to, Sunquest Lab, CoPath Plus, SMS modules, EPIC modules, Point of Care technology, Pathology and Clinical laboratory instruments/connectivity in addition to any other adopted information systems by the department. *Note: These statements are intended to describe the essential functions of the job and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. JOB REQUIREMENTS Required: Bachelor’s degree in Biological, Physical, Chemical or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution. Must have 2-3 years of clinical laboratory experience. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related computer science. American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or equivalent certification. At least 2-4 years of experience working with Laboratory Information Systems, An understanding of clinical laboratory workflow and process. Skilled in the use of Microsoft: Word, Excel, Access, Power point. Strong analytical and problem – solving skills.
