Your Role: What you'll be doing

  • Prepares parts and assemblies to maintain contamination control; prepares fastener holes by drilling, counter sinking, counter-boring, deburring, and other manufacturing/assembly processes; mixes and applies chemfilm coatings, primers, and sealants to areas being worked; fits parts and assemblies by grinding, filing, sanding, and final ream of holes to include installing specified fasteners
  • Uses and interprets engineering drawings and technical engineering specifications to include documenting product deficiencies in concise terms by using customer and ULA formatted report forms. Reviews planning for proper sequencing and notifies appropriate engineering planner of any necessary alterations.
  • Performs drilling, reaming, counter-sinking, counter-boring, spot-facing, micro-shaving, sanding, grinding, deburring, burnishing, chemfilming, as well as alignment and assembly using fasteners of all types: faying, surface, sealing and/or filleting, and wet fastener installation.
  • Mixes paints, lacquers and enamels and thins to consistency as stipulated in company or customer specification. Checks surface conditions prior to painting for cleanliness; masks and checks for post paint treatments such as etching and baking. Performs interior/exterior priming and topcoat to include preparation, sanding, masking, shading and blending requirements.
  • Performs necessary tool adjustments and repairs. Makes minor adjustment/repairs and reports trouble to proper personnel.
  • Complies with Product Discipline Requirements and “Clean as You Go” requirements for safety, cleanliness, use of tools and equipment, handling of parts and materials, and Product Assurance.
  • Performs visual and dimensional verification of compliance with engineering requirements which requires use of precision measuring equipment and measuring accuracy and repeatability to .001 inch.
  • Performs theodolite inspection on production assemblies when locating detail parts and operates Coordinate Measurement Machine, hardness tester and other optical comparators as needed. Directs interaction with customer and government representatives during First Article Inspection, audits, mandatory verification points, assists with resolution of discrepancies, and ensures effective communication between manufacturing and applicable support departments.
  • Performs similarly–related duties as directed by Production Management.
  • Performs clean-up of work area and other incidental duties as required.

  • Experience using and interpreting engineering drawings, hand tools, standard measuring equipment, and general calculations
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; climb or descend ladders, stairs, and ramps; mix chemicals, and use low and high impact equipment with forceful grasping and gripping and repetitive motion
  • Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, and/or 3rd shift
  • Qualified to perform the work shall be deemed to consist of ability to perform satisfactorily the required duties of the job and to meet standards of quantity and quality without the need for further training.
