Ultium Cells Overview:

Ultium Cells, LLC. is a joint venture Lithium-ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solution, Ltd., and General Motors. This high-technology plant is a new construction that will have the latest in battery cell manufacturing technology. This $2.3 billion investment will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors’ North American electric vehicle applications.

Position Description:

The SRP/CESS Operator will operate, troubleshoot, and maintain the solvent recovery process (SRP) and central electrolyte storage system (CESS) to support the battery cell manufacturing process. The operator will develop an understanding of the processes which utilize these chemicals and how to help ensure that their supply needs are consistently met to minimize delays in production. Ultium Cells will provide training to all incoming team members to ensure safe and effective operation of these systems.

This is an introductory role; candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of their level of expertise. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills are the key strength of an aspiring SRP/CESS operator. Job Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate an unwavering dedication to workplace safety, including (but not limited to) following PPE requirements, proper handling of hazardous materials, and safe operation of equipment.

• Develop and utilize a strong understanding of the solvent recovery and purification process.

• Assist in bulk material unloading and transfer, including hookup and transfer of chemical from delivery vehicles while wearing class C chemical protective suits. Be prepared and able to work (for reasonable durations) in these suits during the heat of summer and the cold of winter.

• Learn to identify and execute maintenance of SRP/CESS systems, including planned and breakdown maintenance.

• Monitor and troubleshoot SRP/CESS process and equipment, both through manipulation of the control panels and physical elements in the yard.

• Effectively communicate information between many teams, sometimes in high-pressure and urgent situations. Keep calm in emergency situations and understand how to respond and escalate.

• Properly and safely collect chemical samples and perform basic chemical assays. Safely dispose of waste and consumables.

• Operate mobile equipment such as a scissor lift, fork truck, side by side, hand-jack, etc. as needed. Training will be provided.

• Work 12 hour shifts for a total of 84 hours over two weeks. Work days (6a – 6p) for 6 weeks, then nights (6p – 6a) for 6 weeks, then repeat.

• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies:

• Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and good attention to detail.

• Demonstrate basic math and reading comprehension.

• Speak and read English fluently. .

• Demonstrate strong, clear communication skills to effectively navigate both high- and low-pressure situations.

• Ability to consistently complete repetitive tasks like checking/recording/adjusting valves, gauges, dials, indicators, controllers, etc.

• Ability to work well with a consistent crew, maintain professionalism, and avoid unnecessary conflict.

• Use of PPE including, but not limited to respirators, chemical protective suits, safety goggles, and chemical resistant gloves. An operator will frequently wear head-to-toe class C (full chemical protective suit, respirator, chemical resistant gloves) chemical protective gear.

• Ability to confidently and comfortably climb up chemical towers to heights over 80ft.

• Ability and willingness to consistently walk 10,000 steps per day. While this does not happen every day for SRP/CESS operators, it is not uncommon.
