Assistant Director of Corporate Career Advising

Office of Institutional Advancement 
Exempt, Regular, 100% Full Time, Pay Grade 2.2

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is seeking a Assistant Director of Corporate Career Advising. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Career Development, and in an effort to drive enrollment and retention, Assistant Directors of Corporate Career Advising work collaboratively with CLS’s strategy to oversee the reactive and proactive delivery of in-person career services, initiate and coordinate alumni and employer connections with Career Choice participants, and provide direct career advising to Career Choice participants fulfillment locations around the country. Extensive travel is required.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Oversee implementation of career readiness offerings through self-service tools, workshops, and webinars and maintain Career Choice site on CareerQuest, UMGC’s career services platform
  • Work with the Director to provide operational support for employer involvement (on-site interviews, information sessions, workshop delivery, etc.) and identification/engagement of UMGC alumni near Career Choice locations to serve as mentors, employers, and guest speakers in the IT and cyber fields
  • Proactively connect these participants of the Career Choice program to identify their plans and specific outcomes upon leaving Amazon and document where graduates are working. Curate successful outcomes with Director of Business Development for further employer cultivation and with communications/marketing as success stories
  • Provide consistent high-level career development training to success coaches assigned to the Career Choice locations
  • Collaborate with success coaches in the preparation of students for career readiness
  • Whenever possible and time permits, joins the Largo Career Advisors in providing remote career services and programs to students, prospective students and alumni
  • Evening and weekend hours will be required; travel will be required
  • Potentially supervise contract career advisors if the need develops

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Master’s (MA/MS) degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in counseling, college student personnel, higher education, or related area  
  • A minimum of (3) three years of experience in career services, employer relationship development, staffing, recruiting, workforce development, or experiential education
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication, program coordination, and presentation skills required. Individual must exhibit a high level of comfort and previous work with technology related to career services
  • Experience working with adult learners required. Experience with career services platforms (PeopleGrove, Handshake, Symplicity, etc.) and CRM’s such as Dynamics or SalesForce required

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Leadership and management experience preferred
  • Experience working in an online/virtual environment in careers services
