Summary: The Human Resources Generalist is an essential member of the Human Resources team, responsible for supporting the daily functions of the Human Resources Department assisting with recruitment and onboarding, compliance, and enforcing company policies and practices. The HR Generalist will be responsible for demonstrating the Umpqua Dairy Mission Statement and utilizing a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset in supporting team capability and unity.
Essential Functions:This position is responsible for:
Approaching work with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset and engaging in Umpqua Dairy Mission Statement to identify value, prioritize resources and maximize improvement opportunities.
Uses the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), to advertise openings, and collaborates with managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Works with managers to recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified candidates for open positions.
Acquires background checks, UA’s, physicals and employee eligibility verifications. Track and maintain temporary team member records.
Administer new Team Member orientations and ensure that all onboarding training is complete. Assist with continual development and refinement of company onboarding process.
Partner with HR Leadership to ensure that the company remains compliant with federal, state and local regulations (including completion of verification of employments (VOE), I-9 and E-Verify. Maintain annual labor law postings, etc.
Support with employee payroll records, including pay changes, vacation requests, garnishments, deductions, address changes, retro pay calculations, etc. Close out the payroll process by sending checks and relevant documentation to state agencies, 401(k) administrator, etc. so that funds and payments are promptly received.
Assist & support the leave process including employee interaction, tracking, compliance, and administration. Work with HRM on complex leave issues.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Office Organization. Maintain filing for all personnel files. Maintain annual postings.
Support the Human Resource department in planning and carrying out company events, including summer picnics, holiday parties, and Team Member recognition events.
Other duties as assigned.
