What are the responsibilities and job description for the AHPS Project Manager position at unc?
The Add Health Parent Study (AHPS), housed at CPC, is an innovative intergenerational biosocial project funded by NIH for a second phase that will increase the diversity of the sample and add new cognitive and genetic data. A multiethnic/racial and interdisciplinary team of scientists will collect longitudinal cognitive, social, behavioral, and biological data on parents of individuals who participated in the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health (Add Health), which has been administered at CPC for 25 years.Phase 2 of the Add Health Parent Study will increase the number of Non-Hispanic Black and Hispanic parent participants in the AHPS. These new participants will be administered a one-hour survey that Phase 1 participants completed. The full AHPS sample (e.g., Phase 1 and 2) will then be administered an Alzheimer's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) Assessment, and physical measures and DNA data collection. These data will be linked to an earlier wave of data collection on the parents to create longitudinal AHPS data and linked to longitudinal data on their children in Add Health. Cognitive measures across the two generations and a multigenerational genomic database will be created, and these new data will be available to the scientific community of 50,000 Add Health and AHPS users. This project will facilitate the study of racial/ethnic disparities in cognitive aging, caregiving, and various dementia risks across two generations with longitudinal, nationally representative data collected from adult children and their parents. The AHPS project manager will manage overall activities for this project, including all aspects of project start up (e.g., implementation of study design, instrument development, meetings with RTI and subcontractors, etc.); develop project plans and timelines; coordinate UNC IRB human subjects and funding compliance for the study; conduct financial management of project activities and subcontracts; and draft reports for the funding agency project monitors. In addition, the project manager will manage all communications, meetings, preparation of materials, and documentation to carry out the data collection and analysis plans by team investigators; manuscript development and publications; and dissemination and documentation of the AHPS data. The project manager will supervise the data coordinator who maintains personal identifying information (PII) and access to AHPS participants and facilitates tracking and contacts for the daily management of data collection. The project manager will work with subcontractors RTI and UT Houston Lab to ensure their tasks and deliverables are met according to the project schedule and supervise their subcontract budgets. The project manager will also be responsible for the coordination of the focus groups and development of the study consent video and Spanish translations in collaboration with the survey contractor, Research Triangle Institute under the supervision of the investigators. This position will work closely with the budgeted Project Manager overseeing the Alzheimer's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) Assessment component of the project (AD/ADRD Project Manager). The AD/ADRD Project Manager position will manage the day-to-day cognitive data collection activities, data monitoring and quality checks which are part of the AHPS survey administration and will work closely with Columbia University faculty investigators with expertise in cognition. They will also work closely with the Data Manager during the data collection period to monitor data collection goals and ensure RTI data collection efforts are meeting their expectations within budget and according to timelines and that resultant data are high quality.
