HeLx Intern

HeLx is a command center for data science communities developed to address the need for rapid deployment of robust cyberinfrastructure in the cloud. The scalable portal allows researchers to easily ingest, move, share, analyze and archive scientific data. HeLx is designed to be flexible and customizable and empowers researchers across domains as varied as plant genomics, biomedical science, clinical informatics, and neuroscience to do work with their preferred tools close to the data in the cloud at scale.The HeLx Intern will be responsible for:* Identifying gaps in user-facing documentation;* Identifying technical issues with user-facing documentation as well as internal documentation(eg, broken formatting, bad redirects, etc)* Preforming QC on user-facing documentation to ensure it provides HeLx users with anoptimal user experience;* Conducting 1:1 interviews with HeLx engineers to identify gaps in repo documentation;creating outlines for repo READMEs to address those gaps; and where needed andappropriate, working with HeLx engineers to (a) understand the repos they are analyzing and(b) compose content for said repos;* Submitting PRs to solve documentation issues for review and approval by the HeLx projectmanager and supervisor.A second phase of this internship is anticipated based on the intern's knowledge andinterfacing with the team. After 7 weeks (~half of the internship), a meeting between the intern,mentor, and supervisor will occur to discuss phase two. The additional roles for the secondphase may include:* Assignment on experience-appropriate tickets for HeLx work;* Co-working with other HeLx engineers on existing tickets to solve existing problems andexplore new development opportunities.During their internship, the HeLx intern will attend scrum meetings to report on their tasks aswell as better interface and engage with their team. Additional team meetings as well as 1:1calls with supervisor and mentor will also be actively scheduled on a recurring as well asas-needed basis.
