Purpose of Position
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Employ basic counseling understanding and skills to facilitate Identity Discussion Groups - (Essential)
- Assist with coordinating and facilitating educational opportunities for students. - (Essential)
- Engage in proactive outreach to support student success and retention efforts. - (Essential)
- Support Director with general administrative tasks and office management. - (Essential)
- Provide support, information, referral and advocacy to/for LGBTQ students. - (Essential)
Required Competencies
Considerable knowledge regarding the concerns and issues of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and questioning students, including knowledge and understanding of gender identity and gender expression.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to facilitate individual, small group, and larger group discussions
Must be resourceful, self-directed, and work with little supervision
Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
Minimum Requirements
Must be a current UND graduate student (enrolled in courses and in good standing in their graduate program during the time of assistantship)
Graduate enrollment in counseling or counseling related programs
Demonstrate a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion
Demonstrate an understanding and application of intersectionality
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with creating social media content, flyers, and video content
Demonstrate organizational skills, problem solving, and multitasking
Proficiency in basic computer skills, i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.
Responsible and dependable
Positive attitude and creates a welcoming environment
Reports to work as scheduled and on time
Ability to communicate and work well with a diverse staff and student population
