Responsible for the prompt repair and ongoing maintenance of more complex material handling equipment issues.
- Provide recommendation to repair or replace poorly functioning equipment and assist in developing a preventive maintenance schedule
- Efficiently prioritizes repair schedule to ensure an uninterrupted production schedule
- Ensure an adequate inventory of necessary spare parts and materials is maintained.
- Keep management informed of areas activities and of significant concerns. Report major concerns or significant problems.
- Provides quality oversight to lesser experienced Technicians and performs other relevant job duties as required
- Manages installation of RF unit and scan guns
- Battery Changer Repair
- Handles more complex diagnostics and repairs including but not limited to the following: electrical systems, hydraulic and brake systems.
- Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location
- High School Diploma/GED and/or equivalent related experience
- 2-3 years of technical maintenance or related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training
- Certified Material Handling Engineer Mechanic
- 2-4 years of on-the-job experience with electronics and mechanical equipment
- Machining and fabrication experience
- Experience troubleshooting complex equipment.
- Solid understanding of material handling equipment.
- Oral and written communication skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. It is also required for writing routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Clearly communicate with other employees and build relationships with employees, supervisors/managers, customers, as well as outside contractors
- Excellent mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work well independently
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
- Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation
- Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
- Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
