Quality Control Specialist

Summary: The Quality Control Specialist supports production areas for quality issues and questions and will address these issues with the team.
FLSA: Salary Non-Exempt
Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager
Direct Reports: Self Leader
Type: Full-Time, First Shift
Department: Quality Control
Essential Functions
- Address quality issues, updates, and approvals.
- Perform detailed inspections required per the department needs.
- Participate in external audits, supplier and internal plant audits.
- Maintain documentation on audits, testing and calibrations
- Responsible for following up on corrective action plans and areas of nonconformance.
- Oversee the process for raw material and finished product specification updates and approvals.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education/Experience
- High school diploma necessary, or equivalent, and degree in related field preferred
- 3 years of experience working in manufacturing related environment
- Knowledgeable of standards. AWS D1.1 structural welding, ASTM Materials and AASHTO.
- Familiar with different welding practices.

- CWI, UT level 2, MT level 2, PT level 2 certified or working toward certifications.
General Information
- General Production hours – 5:30am to 4pm (M – Th) Note: Overtime is a common part of production
- A continuous learning attitude on production and company related areas is encouraged
- Throughput, inventory, and operational expense are the pillars of the UMIC operating philosophy
Physical Qualifications
- Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, climb and walk for extended periods of time
- Must be able to work in all types of temperatures and in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to conduct dimensional checks
