Backup Driver

Description

Drives 26 foot long Box Truck to customers transporting materials to and from specified destinations.

Essential Tasks

• Loads and unloads vehicles by hand or by use of hand truck, dolly, and pallet jacks.
• Pads, stacks, and secures items in position on truck to prevent damage during shipment.
• Delivers and stacks merchandise on customers’ premises and obtains receipt for goods.
• Verifies load against shipping papers.
• Drives truck to destination applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in area.
• Maintains truck log according to State, Federal and Company regulations.
• Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water on a weekly basis, every Monday. Complete the “Drivers Checklist” and submit to the Department manager.
• From time to time, the driver may also remain in the warehouse to perform duties as directed by management.
• Pick-ups and returns empty pallets back to Company.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)

Professional Experience

• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
• Must pass a DOT pre-employment Drug Screen
• Two or more years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• Person must be comfortable delivering to prisons, correctional facilities and having limited contact with Inmates
