Job Summary:
The paraprofessional provides instructional support in a K-12th grade classroom of students with and without disabilities. The paraprofessional also leads the classroom in the event of a teacher absence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Implements lessons plan including instructional groups per teacher’s direction.
- Assists in planning and developing/setting up instructional materials for classroom.
- Assist in administering assessments/progress monitoring.
- Works with the teacher in documenting academic progress through authentic observations and data collection.
- Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management techniques and data collection.
- Perform teacher duties in his/her absence.
- Keep up on best and promising practices for education (i.e., attending professional development, participating in book studies, etc.)
- Provide caretaking/housekeeping duties as needed (i.e., changing of students, keeping classroom clean)
- Maintain positive staff and parent interactions and communication.
- Attend required trainings, meetings and events.
- Ensure administration is informed of all parent and individual student concerns and complaints.
- Ensure compliance with procedures, requirements and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other State and Federal agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Experience:
2 years experience working in a K-12th grade classroom
Prefer experience working with children with and without special needs in a multi-disciplinary education setting
Experience working with instructional technology preferred.
Education and Training: (or equivalent)
- Associate Degree (or equivalent college credits) in education or a related field. If related field – minimum of 6 Education credit
OR - Score of 464 or higher on the ETS Parapro test
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- DCF 45 hours within 1 year (if working after care/summer camp)
Salary : $14 - $16
