GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Responsible for providing infusion nursing care to adult and pediatric patients. Administers infusions/injections of biologics and other medications as prescribed. Responsible for all aspects of infusion center daily operations to include clinical and administrative tasks in support of infusion services. Participates as member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Reports to Senior Infusion Nurse Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Monitors schedule and organizes patient flow for infusion services
- Collects patient history and provides feedback to the physicians for any concerns or issues arising between infusions
- Ensures that each patient encounter is completed and documented in accordance with operational guidance and policies
- Has knowledge of drug uses, dosage requirements, and safety considerations for all drugs administered in the infusion center
- Maintains infusion center in compliance with defined operational guidelines and state/federal regulations
- Provides patient education for prescribed medications being administered in the infusion center
- Communicates with internal/external personnel and patients as needed in a timely and efficient manner
- Coordinates with supervising/prescribing providers for any concerns related to the administration of patient care services
- Supports all requests for information about patient encounters and documentation that are required for appropriate and timely coding/billing completion
- Provides oversight and delegation of nursing care activities delivered by unlicensed staff members as appropriate
- Travel between multiple sites as required for business needs
- Contributes to department and organization quality and process improvement activities/initiatives
- Participates in staff meetings and other activities as directed
- Other duties and/or special projects as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Maintains a current state license to practice as a Registered Nurse, required; must provide license annually or as requested
- Maintains Basic Cardiac Life Support certification, required; must provide certificate annually or as requested; ACLS certification is recommended but not required
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, High School Diploma or GED, required
- 1-3 years of infusion related experience preferred.
- Excellent IV administration skills required
- Computer operations and the ability to work within clinic EMR is required

- Communicate with patients, co-workers, physicians, and others in a courteous and professional manner, through the telephone, email, and in-person
- Maintain composure, and set a professional example at all times
- Work under pressure; assess, respond, and communicate issues in a timely manner
- Plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks as delegated by UD leadership
- Work and make decisions independently, based on organization guidelines/policies, laws and regulations
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Ability to work under stress. Moderate periods of sitting and computer use. Good visual acuity. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel sensation to discern temperature, texture, size, and shape. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time, lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 25 pounds. Travel as business needs require.
