Job Summary:
The Center Freight Operations Supervisor II coordinates inbound and outbound UPS Freight Forwarding (FF) shipments. He/She coordinates freight inspections and buildups for deliveries, assigns deliveries, and dispatches drivers. This position reviews shipment documents (i.e., manifests) to ensure procedures and compliance requirements are met. He/She conducts driver and dockworker training to ensure safe methods are taught and utilized. This position ensures freight operations comply with governmental regulations and UPS policies and procedures. He/She monitors and reviews pickup and delivery status and interacts with customers to address delays and service failures. This position maintains training records and shipment status information in the FF systems. The Center Freight Operations Supervisor II is responsible for a greater scope of work (e.g., additional departments, number of direct reports, greater revenue, larger volume, etc.). He/She will be trained to be Dangerous Goods certified. He/She will be trained to be the Environmental Coordinator. This position supervises hourly employees and specialists within the department.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates freight sorts and loads.
- Supervises freight dispatch routes and scheduling.
- Conducts Freight Forwarding operations and safety training.
- Coordinates Freight Forwarding administrative functions.
- Schedules and supervises dock employees daily activities.
- Plans for changes (e.g., routing changes, left over freight, left over cargo, etc.) to ensure appropriate equipment and personnel are available for loading and unloading customer goods.
- Supervises truck build-up and breakdowns to ensure freight is properly staged and loaded.
- Completes daily reports to identify productivity costs and service issues.
- Responds to customer calls (e.g., damaged goods, storage fees, etc.) to resolve issues.
- Supervises audit activities to meet compliance procedures results for customs and internal audits.
- Evaluates work areas for potential hazards and determines space allocations to ensure the existence of a safe, clean work environment.
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
- Experience working in freight operations - Preferred
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $4,535/year to $7,370/year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to, market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and education/training and a candidate’s work experience. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
