- Checking timesheets for accuracy
- Processing paper checks for distribution
- Processing wage garnishments
- Making adjustments in bonuses and commission
- Responsible for checking the accuracy and processing of payroll, as well as all other payroll related issues.
- Sets up and processes direct deposit transfer information for all employees.
- Monitor departments’ time records in timekeeping software and assist departments with payroll issues.
- Transmits information from timekeeping software and checks for accuracy of information.
- Processes approved payroll changes in system such as termination, department transfers, benefit and PLT accruals and updates, premium, Cafeteria 125 plan, and other miscellaneous payroll/personnel related information.
- Process payroll for employees in the organization
- Address and resolve employee complaints relating to the payroll system
- Work with company database programs to process payroll
- Invoicing for processed payrolls
Qualifications for Payroll Specialist
- Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required
- knowledge of tax and wage laws
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
- Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
- Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Physically able to work seated in front of a computer for long hours at a time
