What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mohs RN - Laser & Dermatologic Surgery Center position at United Skin Specialists?
The nurse performs a variety of tasks to assist the Surgeons in providing patient care, including escorting patients to exam rooms, assisting with surgeries, checking vital signs, and coordinating ongoing care. Under the medical direction of the clinic physicians and the general administrative direction of the clinic manager:
Job Responsibilities, clinical:
- Intake for surgical patients and return patients
- Prepare patients for physical exam/surgery
- Preparing patients for Mohs layers and reconstructive surgery
- Assisting surgeons with Mohs surgery and reconstructive surgery
- Assists with procedures and demonstrates current knowledge and skill in nursing practice to ensure safe and effective care for the patient population.
- Responsible for patient education including handing out educational pamphlets, giving verbal instructions, explaining and recommending products, discussing medications and wound care and answering patient questions
- Providing post-op care to return patients
- Surgical instrument processing
- Prepare for the day’s activities by checking schedules and preparing rooms for patient use i.e. clean, organize and stock rooms with necessary equipment and supplies
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work under time pressures in a busy clinic/office environment
- Must be able to react quickly and immediately respond to emergencies
- Must be able to lift, push/pull and carry 15lbs
- Must be able to reach for objects by extending arms and able to stay in one position for periods of time
- Must maintain attention to detail over extended period of time
Work Schedule:
- 32-40 hours per week
- Follow the surgeon between Mohs surgical appointments and follow-up appointments
- Typical working days could be Monday-Friday with normal business hours. You'll have a set schedule.

Qualifications:
- Current and active RN license in the state of MO with no restrictions
- 2 years Prior experience in outpatient surgery clinic setting
- Demonstrated ability or experience in patient flow management and confidential management of patient health information
- Ability to provide services to patients in a warm, professional manner
- Dermatology experience a plus
- Ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the dermatology field and a passion for building relationships with their patients

- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with clarity both verbally and in writing
