Positions in this function is responsible for the effective delivery and management of direct patient care utilizing the nursing process and adhering to standards of nursing practice. Observes new hires as they provide appropriate care to patients ranging from infants to geriatrics. Provides pre-visit and post-visit telephonic support and patient education, populating the Electronic Medical Record with historical information, lab findings, and preliminary orders to be reviewed by the physician at the next clinic visit. Ad hoc visits to the clinical sites will also be scheduled to enhance coordination of team-based care.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conducts formal classroom as well as informal one-on-one training and support to Medical Assistants on their position responsibilities. Incorporates concepts of adult learning theory into educational offerings
- Considers professional development models (e.g., novice to expert) when interacting with clinical
- staff and developing teaching material
- Follows best practices, trains and mentors Medical Assistants on those best practices in order to deliver superior quality of care to patients
- Promotes ongoing, consistent training at the sites by actively coordinating and participating in the Preceptor Program. Coordinates and schedules classes. Maintains attendance listing for the organization
- Establishes training schedule for classroom and one-on-one training. Reviews training requests and adjusts training schedule as required
- Develops, updates, and maintains instructional and testing materials, manuals, skills checklists, new processes, etc.
- Coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency gaps. Delivers learning
- programs to clinical staff on improvement of skills and competencies
- Supports site’s needs by responding to educational requests through monthly rounding, new
- hire support and individualized interventions
- Recognizes gaps in practice that indicate potential Risk management issues and identifies
- educational strategies to close the gaps
- Serves as a resource and support to Practice Managers and others
- Orients new employees to clinical aspects and the Medical Assistant duties and responsibilities
- Coordinate with the new hire, preceptor, and supervisor to schedule meetings to review the new hires success in orientation as well as the status of their new hire checklist, while identifying any needs they might have for additional training or assistance that could be provided by clinical education
- Prepares learning materials for use in educational programs. Adjusts content and teaching
- strategies as needed. Adapts presentation style to meet the needs of the audience. Demonstrates skill in developing educational materials such as competency modules, class
- modules, and handouts
- Maintains open communication with all members of the healthcare team
- Schedules and participates in rounding visits at each site collectively with others from the clinical education department. Respond and accommodate the needs that are requested by the individual sites and their departments to support their practice and aid in signing off competencies, BLS, skills training, and other appropriate clinical training
- Participates in process improvement initiatives. Trains medical assistants prior to and post-implementation of lean processes. Follows up as required or directed
- Uses effective techniques when providing feedback to others
- Performs a variety of clerical duties such as filing, copying, collating, faxing, data entry, etc.
- Assists with special projects. Gathers standard documents, files, and records and obtains and transposes statistical or financial data from available sources. Prepares reports using established formats
- Complies with health and safety requirements and with regulatory agencies such as DPH, etc.
- Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
- Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Certification by an accredited Medical Assistant program
- 1 years of MA experience
- Experience presenting information to groups as well as individuals
- Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of program development
- Knowledge of office and laboratory procedures
- Interpersonal, organizational, communication, presentation, and training skills
- Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements.
