The Clinical Manager of Waste and Error Operations oversees and manages a team of nurses and certified coders.  The Manager is accountable for the day to day frontline operations, financial savings, employee development & coaching, and short- and long-term strategy for business growth and expansion.  They are responsible for meeting operational performance expectations including quality, process improvements, turnaround times, regulatory requirements, revenue / savings, expense, projects, client and implementation management.  The Manager will monitor staff timecards, PTO, OT, metrics, inventory management etc.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Manage a team that generates revenue and savings 
  • Review the work of others
  • Develop, innovative, approaches and strategies
  • Anticipate customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
  • Capable direct client management 
  • Serve as a key resource on complex and/or critical issues 
  • Solve complex problems and develops innovative solutions with broad impact on the business
  • Provide explanations and information to others on difficult issues, both within the team and other departments
  • Develop and leads projects that drive process improvements
  • Serve as an operational leader in client implementations   
  • Participant in the development of business strategy
  • Provide input to forecasting and planning activities
  • Adapt department plans and priorities to address business and operational challenges
  • Oversee work of exempt and non- exempt personnel
  • Set direction, resolve problems and provide guidance to team members
  • Work with key business partners such as client services, finance, and UHC PI
  • Ensure client expectations are met relative to operational performance (ie. Service level agreements, state & federal mandates)

Required Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of experience managing teams
  • Proven, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; ability to exercise good judgment
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications with strong computer skills (e.g. multiple systems experience, keyboarding skills, trouble-shooting IT concerns, etc.)
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nurse or Certified Coder with active credentials
  • 3+ years of operations managemnt experience 
  • 1+ human resource policies and procedures experience
  • 1+ year of Waste and Error Clinical team and process experience
  • Background in healthcare claims management
  • Client service experience
  • Previous CMS experience 
  • Open to change and new information; ability to adapt in changing environments and integrate best practices 
  • Highly organized with effective and persuasive communication skills
  • Proven communication and presentation skills

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600.
