Center based front office patient support role. Scheduling appointments for providers and making reminder calls and creating related correspondence. Check in/Check out procedures. Greet clients entering center, answer phones, accept payments. Prepare paperwork for new clients and reviewing for accuracy. Closing client files where appropriate (paper and electronic) Data entry for new enrollments and terminations, process records requests and updating patient information as appropriate as collected. May assist with correspondence for clinicians.
The Patient Care Coordinator is a vital Center based front office patient support role. They are responsible for checking in all patients, making sure all necessary paperwork is in charts before a patient can be seen, answering and directing all calls, scheduling new patients, collecting copays, entering new patients in the system, handling referrals, and rescheduling appointments for prescribers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Providing reception and clerical support in the clinic’s front office
- Scheduling appointments, taking messages, and responding to the needs of patients and callers
- Courteously greet clients or visitors and maintain sign-in sheet
- Assist with new clients (offer & explain paperwork, verify completion, signatures & consents, obtaining insurance information, and completion, signatures & consents, obtaining insurance information, and input face sheets)
- Schedule new clients appropriately according to staff qualifications and insurance requirements, then send text messages/emails to patients regarding upcoming appointments and canceled/rescheduled appointments
- Process payments for co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, self-pay, and missed appointments fees
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidentiality by safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential

Required Qualifications:
- HS Diploma/GED
- 1 years in office environment, preferably in mental health or medical setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of medical terminology
- Proven ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Proven written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical staff
- Proven ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
California Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $28.27 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
