The Software Solution Architect is a business-oriented technical role that acts as a primary liaison between the business and development teams. The Software Architect creates a blueprint of the software that the business wants to realize, and the resulting plan includes provisions for business and technical requirements (including standards). In this role, the Software Architect leverages deep technical knowledge and creativity to advise the business team on the feasibility of new ideas and propose new technology-based solutions that improve and optimize Department workflows while also providing technical leadership to the development team. It is critical that this role can effectively translate the long-term business strategies into actionable plans for business and technology stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:
Analyze, plan, design, and implement structural framework to align IT strategy, plans, and systems with the mission, goals, and processes required
Establish system information requirements for development of enterprise-wide, large-scale information systems across on-prem, cloud and hybrid infrastructures
Design architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces
Ensure these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems architectures, the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and ISO reference models, and profiles of standards - such as Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Open Systems Environment (OSE) reference model - as they apply to the implementation and specification of information management solution of the application platform, across the Application Program Interface (API), and the external environment/software application
Ensure that the common operating environment is fully compliant with the CMS TRA, enterprise architecture, and ARS
Function as a technical visionary for CMS, promoting and implementing changes to the Product Roadmap and Architectural Runway, recommending the incorporation of open source tools and technologies in support of Big Data, EDI, Cloud, Microservices, API, Orchestration, etc.
Develop technical presentations with findings and recommendations for any changes to the existing infrastructure, including justifications, DAR research, budget considerations, and required implementation resources
Ensure that the common operating environment is compliant with the CMS TRA, enterprise architecture, and ARS

Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in applicable area of expertise or equivalent experience
Certifications: Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solution Architect, or Red Hat Certified Architect, or equivalent combination
10 years of Experience and a Relevant Bachelor's Degree
Healthcare experience
Federal Government experience
Preferred Qualifications:
