As part of our Optum engineering team, the Sr. Software Engineer plays a significant part in designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining software in a systematic method. This role covers all primary development activity across all technology functions and ensures we deliver code with high quality for our applications, products and services while understanding customer needs.  With every role at Optum, each position has a requirement for building quality into every output.  This includes evaluating new tools, strategies, creating automation of common tasks as well as building organizational efficiencies around technology.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Building, operating, and monitoring deployable infrastructure and code


• Creating run guides and train other engineers on infrastructure as code


• Logging to provide insight into how to better utilize cloud resources


• Connecting with engineering leads to identify problems and implement optimal solutions

Required Qualifications:

• 5 years of software engineering experience at the enterprise level as well as a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Information technology or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience


• 2 years of Python programming experience


• 1 years of experience working with Bash/PowerShell and Terraform

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 years of cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc)


• 1 years of experience working with SQL and/or T-SQL


• 1 years of experience in serverless technologies (databricks, azure serverless thin apps, etc.)
