Primary Responsibilities* Broad range of strategic and operational responsibilities related to advancing research deliverables, building and maintaining key relationships and public visibility of the Enterprise, and internal leadership and management
* Leading UHG’s partnerships with prominent researchers at universities, with responsibility for collaborating on all aspects of research studies, from conceptualization to reviewing analytic results to publishing, and for managing the operational aspects of UHG’s partnerships including supporting data access and facilitating proposal reviews and research agreement
* Supporting academic partners through a deep understanding of the Enterprise’s data assets and the ability to conduct feasibility studies, data exploration, ad hoc analysis, and verification to support research studies
* Building internal relationships and collaborating with Enterprise leadership to inform, execute, and elevate research collaborations with external partners; integrating expertise from across UHG; and ensuring research partnerships align with a UHG-wide perspective on key issues
* Building and maintaining key relationships and public visibility of the Enterprise
* Developing, leading, and maintaining external relationships with industry thought leaders and key stakeholders outside the Enterprise, including policy experts and researchers, for the purposes of informing the Center’s work and maximizing its impact
* Collaborating on diverse aspects of coordinating the Center’s work and its team
* Designing and executing data analysis; and training, developing, and supporting data analysts
* Anticipating data needs of the future and partnering with internal data governance leaders to develop and execute a data strategy for academic research

Required Qualifications:
* PhD or Master’s degree in economics, finance, epidemiology, biostatistics, mathematics, public policy, health informatics, data sciences, or other quantitative field
* 10 years of professional experience working for one or more health care organizations, consulting firms, universities, research institutions, think tanks, government agencies, or similar organizations
* 7 years of experience using statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, STATA or similar) for descriptive and multivariable analyses
* 5 years of experience with SQL and understanding of complex database structures
* 5 years of experience with administrative health care claims data
* Experience managing all aspects of a research project, with expertise in research design and methods, and experience working with administrative databases, including claims, EMR, and registry data as well as publicly available data
* Mastery of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
* A versatile and skillful professional with a broad scope of expert knowledge and a deep, nuanced understanding of health policy and market issues. Specific expertise will include:
* Major legislation and market forces that impact the health care marketplace
* The market for providing health care services, particularly around the dynamics in technology-enabled solutions and their impact on the evolving delivery system
* Health care insurance, including Employer-Sponsored Insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Public Exchanges
* Patterns and emerging issues in health care spending, provider payment models, care management frameworks, and service delivery redesign
* Microeconomics and applied behavioral economics in a health care setting
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in Microsoft Azure
* Experience with Visual Basic for Applications
* Experience with other applications, such as Python, R, or Tableau
* Knowledge of data privacy and HIPAA standards
* Broad and flexible set of key skills and attributes, including the ability to: analyze claims data and interpret and assess the results of empirical studies; communicate effectively with business leaders and policy experts, translating policy-relevant analysis into business-relevant analysis and vice versa; write effectively, and think strategically and creatively in a dynamic environment
