We're seeking a news junkie. A detail-oriented critical thinker. A person who thrives on deadlines.

Someone who's excited to analyze the nation's health care news—and tell more than 200,000 readers what they need to know that day.

We know; we're seeking someone special. But we have high standards at the Daily Briefing. It's Advisory Board's flagship news vehicle and a must-read at thousands of hospitals across the nation. According to one hospital executive who missed a few issues, "I feel like I'm going through caffeine withdrawal not being able to see the Daily Briefing every day."

The Daily Briefing's small but dynamic team typically works a 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. shift. In the morning, staff members are on a very tight deadline while composing the day’s issue; afternoons are more flexible.

This opportunity is based in Washington, D.C.

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Conduct searches of national and regional news sources, including newspapers, magazines, journals, blogs, and broadcast sources
• Write several short new stories summarizing the day's health news
• As needed, help proof the day's stories and upload stories using HTML templates
• Analyze the latest health care trends in features based on interviews with Advisory Board researchers and prominent experts from the field

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Demonstrated writing and editing experience in a professional environment
• Demonstrated ability to create, adapt, and unify content specifically for the web
• If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree in journalism or communications, or a field related to health care
• 1+ year of work experience
• Proven ability to synthesize news into coherent and comprehensive summaries
• Demonstrated interest in health care
• Online publishing experience
• Proven to be organized, task-oriented, proactive, and deadline-driven
• Ability to work independently

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $43,200 to $76,700.
