Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomy Trainer/Educator

Full Time 40 hours/week
2nd Shift - Noon-8:30pm M-F, Weekend and Holiday Rotation
The Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomy Educator is responsible for the development, training, and competency of the Central Collection team and for carrying out the philosophy and objectives established by the Board of Directors and the Management Team. Foremost among these responsibilities are strictly adhering to detail in the performance of laboratory procedures, solving practical problems, resolving conflict, and implementing constructive change.
COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination Requirement: It is required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza. Exemption requests based on medical or religious reasons may be submitted, but must be approved for active employment.

- Assists in creating, implementing, and monitoring training program
- Completes, maintains, and reviews training and competency documentation in Medialab, to ensure team members are appropriately trained and assessed for competence in all required areas (including venous and capillary blood collection for all age ranges, and specimen requirements)
- Adheres to all required department policies relating to dress code, attendance, and confidentiality.
- Verifies that all phlebotomists correctly obtain, process, and transport their specimens in accordance with the manufacturers’ recommendations (to include centrifugation where needed, transported in an upright position, correct temperatures are maintained, etc.)
- Consistently demonstrates attention to detail, follows protocols and patient identification and labeling.
- Can prioritize work appropriately and assists others as time and workload permit.
- Assists in interpreting physician orders for laboratory tests and ensures that orders are placed correctly in computer systems correctly.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Three to five years of Hospital Phlebotomy experience.
- ASCP certified or equivalent. Applicant will have 6 months to obtain ASCP certification or equivalent
