You would partner with another experienced perfusionist and an experienced cardiothoracic surgical team. This position resides at Allen Hospital, which has been recognized as one of the nation's 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals.  We are a clinical rotation site for the University of Iowa Perfusion Program. We perform approximately 220 open-heart surgeries annually. Responsibilities

The candidate staffing this position will provide the highest standard of care for patients as a clinical perfusionist.

• Directly responsible for achieving and maintaining a high level of current knowledge and technique through recognized training programs, continuing education, and maintaining certification.
• Responsible for the operation and monitoring of those mechanical devices used in medical/surgical procedures requiring partial or complete cardiopulmonary bypass and other related support systems.
• Knowledge must include specific awareness of extracorporeal physiology and mechanics for adult surgery.
• Must have a distinct awareness of the consequence of an error in judgment and skill—effective communication with all other health team members during bypass surgery or other related procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Perfusion Technology, or acceptable healthcare sciences equivalent.
• Successful completion of accredited perfusion training program.
• Eligible to sit for Certified Clinical Perfusionist certification and become certified within one year of employment.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse professional educational and lifestyle backgrounds.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgment and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
• Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
• Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within ninety days preferred
