Under direct supervision of the Dietary Supervisor, this position consists of preparing food for patients, hospital and medical staff, and maintaining the Food Services Department in a sanitary manner
Knowledge/Skills:
- Comprehends and performs oral and written instructions and procedures
- Collaborates with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion
- Maintains high standards for work areas and appearance
- Ability to work a flexible schedule Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays Must comply with any dress code requirements
- Attends work and shows up for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- Ability to use a computer Microsoft Word and browser to access vender websites
- Ability to provide clear directions and respond to employees
- Basic food-handling skills
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 45 pounds
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- ServSafe Certification or similar food safety certification, where required by the state and facility
- 1-2 years' experience preferred but not required
Qualifications
Education: High School education or equivalent is preferred.
Experience: Experience as a Cook or Cook's helper in an institutional food service facility is preferred.
