What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern- Data & Analytics position at Universal Music Australia?

This exciting new opportunity for a Data & Analytics Intern, will play a key role in helping UMG make data-driven decisions in strategising marketing pursuits and throughout the artist signing process. You will be required to analyse data drawn from streaming and social media platforms to evaluate the performance of tracks and online audience building initiatives and identify opportunities for growth. We’re looking for someone with a keen eye for design excited by the prospect of bringing analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
The UMA Internship program is open to eligible students from tertiary institutions that are required to participate in work placement per the terms of their degree. UMA can only consider candidates who can enrol in the ‘Internship’ unit of study and will need to demonstrate enrolment in this unit before being offered an internship position. Please note, this is an unpaid internship.
The Internship
- Understand the role a music label plays in a music company by attending team meetings, working groups and broader company workshops
- Assisting with ad hoc analysis requests and post-marketing campaign reporting
- Revitalising feasibility reporting constructed to evaluate the performance and trajectory of unsigned artists
- Gain industry experience working with HUGE data tables (streaming tables account for each users stream of every UMG affiliated track worldwide!)
- Work with a selection of stakeholders across the business and gain exposure to an Australian music company
- Exposure to a corporate environment that will prepare the student for life beyond university
- Increases the prospect of longer-term career opportunities after the initial work experience

About you
- Students currently studying or interested in data analytics
- Experience with SQL, excel and a design-centric tool like Canva
- Curious problem solvers
- Someone with an eye for creative design in report generation
- Passionate about all things music!
- You must be a current student at an Australian university / institute studying Data & Analytics or other relevant degrees
