POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manager of Contract Development facilitates the analysis, communications, recommendations, and implementation of third party payer contract negotiations. Provides recommendations for long-range strategies and annual goals regarding managed care network participation and third party payer contract performance in support of the Triple Aim PLUS principles and improved revenue flow. Establishes programs necessary for efficient and effective contract document review and management. Assures that all contract documents are assessed annually and updated as needed to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and adherence to applicable policies and procedures. Actively supports the pursuit of new business opportunities with third party payers including network participation contracts and out-of-network letters of agreement. Supports the identification of potential business opportunities, payer relationship development, and provider relationship development.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience coordinating commercial and governmental health plan contracting strategy, negotiation, best practice implementation is required. Must have knowledge of the Texas Medicaid system (traditional and managed care), as well as federal Medicare Advantage, commercial health insurance, and exchange programs. Must possess strong interpersonal skills as well as leadership qualities. Progressively responsible levels of experience are required, including experience in payer contracting and revenue cycle support for a governmental or academic healthcare center with an integrated physician group, as well as effective organizational, planning, controlling and project management abilities.
LICENSURE/CREDENTIALING
Managed Care certification by Healthcare Financial Management Association is preferred.
