Department: New Students and Family Programs Department's Website: http://nsfp.uark.edu Summary of Job Duties: The Assistant Director of New Student & Family Programs is a member of the leadership team that provides exceptional leadership to the department of New Student & Family Programs. The Assistant Director plays a pivotal role in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for first-generation college students and ensuring a successful transition to higher education through extended orientation programs (R.O.C.K. Camp, Welcome Weeks, etc). This individual will collaborate with various campus stakeholders to design, implement, and evaluate programs and services that cater to the unique needs of first-generation students. The Assistant Director will also oversee multiple extended orientation programs, promoting student engagement and integration within the academic and social fabric of the institution. The Assistant Director will recruit, select, and train undergraduate and graduate staff members. In addition, the Assistant Director will research and identify current trends in student transition programs and extended orientation programs for implementation at the University of Arkansas. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
