Position Summary:
The Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) is a campus-wide multidisciplinary matrix organization whose goal is to promote and enhance cancer relevant research and patient care at UC Irvine. The CFCCC provides research resources to its 200 faculty and clinician members and offers multidisciplinary cancer care to its patients. The CFCCC's Office of Community Outreach & Engagement (COE) is a mandatory component of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) P30 Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), and NCI's designation to the CFCCC, and functions as an entity with its own strategic plan, advisory board, and required roles and responsibilities that are codified in the CCSG. The NCI designation has a vital reputational and financial impact for CFCCC, UCI and UCI Health. Adherence to the guidelines of the CCSG is mandatory and involves ongoing monitoring of the organization for structure, direction, and fiscal management. All decisions at the CFCCC are taken within the context of the CCSG requirements.
The Sr. Community Health Educator of the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) Office of Community Outreach & Engagement (COE) works in partnership with the Director of the Office of COE and community partners to develop, conduct, and evaluate community-based cancer education programs and activities, with a focus on Latin American populations. The Sr. Community Health Educator uses skills as a seasoned, experienced health education professional with a full understanding of industry practices and campus policies and procedures to resolve a wide range of issues and demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

$73,900.00 - $133,700.00 (Annual Salary)
Required:
Eight (8) years of experience conducting health education activities in diverse community settings, working specifically in Latin American populations. * Eight (8) years of experience building and managing strategic partnerships with community organizations in the Orange County and / or Southern California region.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Advanced knowledge of the health promotion and education field and / or related education programs and services. Advanced knowledge associated with the design and delivery of health promotion and education programs. Skills associated with both the development and delivery of diverse health education programs and services. Requires effective interpersonal skills to deal with diverse client groups. Effective organizational skills. Interpersonal and diplomacy skills to identify and respond to organizational needs. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to client needs through the development, implementation and delivery of health-related programs. Expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Knowledge of SPSS, SAS, RedCap, and/or similar Bilingual in English and Spanish Knowledge of clinical trials recruitment methodologies Knowledge of HIPAA and Human Subject Research policies
Preferred:
Advanced degree preferred. Terminal degree in a related field (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) preferred
Community Health Education Specialist certification preferred
Special Conditions Required:
Often requires after-hours and weekend work hours as well as travel in and around Orange County (Irvine Campus, Orange Campus, satellite healthcare sites, community organizations, etc.) * Required attendance at 1-2 annual national meetings in different U.S. locations
