Department Description
UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco acute care nurses possess exceptional assessment and prioritization skills as well as a tremendous amount of flexibility and compassion. This unit offers the opportunity to work with many dynamic health care teams as well as the opportunity to solidify nursing practice.
The unit supports 17 pediatric subspecialties, including immunology, GI, renal, neurology and neurosurgery, general major abdominal surgery and liver and kidney transplant.
Required Qualifications
- 2-4 years of progressive nursing leadership experience with patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations and internal policies.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Active American Heart Association CPR certification
- Active American Heart Association PALS certification
- Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a patient care unit.
- In depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations and internal policies.
- Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources matters and employee performance. Provides input to decision-makers on human resources matters.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner. Prepares and presents a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.
- Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments.
- The flexibility to work 50% days and 50% evenings
- The flexibility to work in direct patient care when operationally necessary
- The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree preferred.
License/Certification
- Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Active American Heart Association CPR certification
- Active American Heart Association PALS certification
