Adjunct Assistant Professor
The Department of Medicine, Cardiology Division is seeking a PhD or MD (or equivalent degree) with a background in computer science, machine learning and artificial intelligence, and with demonstrated expertise in scientific investigation including clinical research to join a vibrant research environment in the Division of Cardiology for a full time faculty position. The selected candidate will be appointed at the level of Assistant in the Adjunct Professor series depending on qualifications and interests.
Faculty in the Adjunct Professor series are individuals who are predominantly engaged in research or other creative work and who participate in teaching, or individuals who contribute primarily to teaching and have a limited responsibility for research or other creative work; these individuals may be professional practitioners of appropriate distinction. Incumbent will work closely with Dr. Tison's lab.
Requirements:
* Applicants must have a high level of expertise in writing relevant machine learning/artificial intelligence code using standard frameworks (Python, Tensorflow, Pytorch etc.)
* Applicants must have demonstrated experience both writing code as an individual contributor and managing others in doing so.
* Applicants must have completed a postdoctoral fellowship or have equivalent experience in relevant area of research and gained relevant skills in machine learning/artificial intelligence and scientific investigation.
* Applicants must have a proven record of ability to write grants and manuscripts.
Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:
* Experience in clinical research.
* Experience working directly with clinical informatics systems and databases.
* Prior research experience in clinical cardiovascular research.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $121,100-$158,000. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
