The Opportunity
The University of Central Florida (UCF) School of Performing Arts is seeking a 9-month tenure-earning assistant professor. Instructional duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate Stage Combat Training/Movement and various acting courses and may also entail teaching other topics based on specialty.Additional responsibilities may include directing opportunities during the Theatre UCF departmental season. Ongoing research/creative activities and university service is an expectation of all tenured and tenure-earning faculty. Collaboration with faculty, staff, and students in the School of Performing Arts is expected. The anticipated start date is August 2024.

Minimum Qualifications:
A terminal degree in Theatre (MFA or Ph.D.) or allied field from an accredited institution with at least 3 years of professional experience or a master's degree in Theatre or allied field from an accredited institution with at least 5 years of professional experience or a bachelor's degree in Theatre or allied field from an accredited institution with at least 5 years of exceptional industry experience.
Demonstrated and extensive experience teaching, including advanced studio teaching and/or secondary education.
Demonstrated and extensive professional experience in teaching or choreographing stage combat.
Evidence of significant professional activity that demonstrates a clear capacity for academic advancement commensurate with a tenure-earning position.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Preferred Qualifications:
Terminal degree in Acting or Theatre from an accredited institution.
Significant experience teaching at the college or university level, especially in courses related to stage combat, movement, and acting.
Certification from a recognized organization and/or significant professional experience in stage combat.
Significant professional experience as an actor/combatant at the regional or national level.
Evidence of creative or research activity in theatre, such as publications, conferences, presentations, workshops/masterclasses, awards, or grants. Ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
