The Opportunity
The Department of Biology at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure earning, instructor or lecturer position anticipated to begin Fall 2023.
The selected candidate will have a commitment to teaching and experience in active learning strategies for large 150-400 student in-person classrooms. The candidate will be required to teach three in-person courses each semester in Genetics and Marine Biology and/or Ecology. Additionally, we are especially interested in an individual who can contribute through their teaching and service to the diversity and excellence of our academic community and foster an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and personal experiences are welcomed.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Grading assignments and student work materials for each class taught.
* Holding posted office hours pertinent to each course taught.
* Department service including serving on department committees
Minimum Qualifications:
For an instructor rank, candidate must hold a master's degree in Biology or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the date of hire. For a lecturer rank, candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the date of hire. In addition, the successful applicant will have at least 2 years of in-person teaching experience in a college environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to the candidate who can contribute to upper division courses such as Molecular Cell Biology.
