The Section of Academic Pediatrics at the University of Chicago, Department of Pediatrics is dedicated to managing the unique primary care needs of newborns, children and adolescents. The scope of its clinical service covers both the outpatient and inpatient areas located in Comer Children's Hospital and community sites. Its clinical programs include Comer and community hospital medicine, general care nursery, pediatric primary care, Sports Medicine, Child Advocacy and Protective Services and the Comer Mobile Unit. The Child Advocacy & Protective Services (CAPS) Program was established in 1991 and has a national reputation as being a leader in the medical care of abused and neglected children within the hospital and state. It is a clinical and educational consultation service that supports all children with concerns of child maltreatment. The CAPS mission is to ensure that all children treated at Comer are safe, nourished, and receive necessary medical care. The program provides care for nearly 2,000 patients on an annual basis. The core CAPS team is comprised of two CAP board-certified physicians, a medical director, a physician assistant and a clinical social worker.Job Family

Individual ContributorResponsibilities
The job performs a range of professional activities for clinical programs related to teaching, medical research, and clinical care. Facilitates research initiatives of the faculty and staff.1) Professionally supports the clinical department management. Implements plans for clinical educational programs and initiatives., 2) Monitors finances for the clinical section. Provides management with regular updates and ensures that spending limits are adhered to and are within budget., 3) Assists faculty in the pursuit of grants and awards. Conducts special studies and projects, including the development and enhancement of funding opportunities by working closely with the faculty in the section., 4) Acts as a liaison between the section and other University departments., 5) Performs other related work as needed.Unit-specific Responsibilities
1) Support CAPS/MPEEC Medical Director in developing strategic plan
2) Support management of annual requirements for contracts, grants, including applications, quarterly reports, data collection and management, budget and program plan development, site visit preparation, collaborative engagement with URA and Department of Pediatrics Grants Office to ensure contract and subcontract execution
3) Develops and maintains task-oriented agenda for Program Medical Director
4) Responsible for financial planning and management with Section Administrator and Medical Director, ledger monitoring and oversight of purchases and reimbursements
5) Support website and other promotional material development
6) Develops and supervises utilization of databases/tracking systems for reporting requirements
7) Organizes quarterly trainings, including the development of agendas, surveys and handouts; responsible for scheduling, oversight of registration, parking, and refreshments
8) Develops and manages REDCap survey for quarterly reports, including generating summaries
9) Assists with dissemination of memos, reports and correspondences with agencies and internal agencies
10) Assists in organizing interagency meetings with DCFS and MPEEC hospitals
11) Oversight, education and management of clerical support staff with regard to resident scheduling, court commitments, clinical information organization
12) Management of purchasing needs (e.g., computers and other electronics)
