Nature of Work
The Section of Emergency Medicine (SOEM) at Children's Hospital Colorado seeks a physician to serve in the role of Associate Medical Director of Clinical Informatics (AMDI).
The AMDI for the SOEM will assist the Medical Director of Informatics (MDI) in the planning, development, implementation, and optimization of information technology related to urgent care and telehealth programs. The primary focus of the AMDI will be twofold: (1) to provide informatics support for the SOEM Director of Urgent Care/Virtual Care through build and development of recommend enhancements to the electronic health record (EHR) software to meet the unique billing, documentation, and compliance needs of urgent care/ telehealth programs including development of validation of data capture for these services and (2) to provide end user support to SOEM providers working in urgent cares/virtual care and subspecialty consultants providing virtual consultation to promote timely, accurate, and efficient documentation and enhance end user satisfaction with the EHR platform.
The AMDI will also be expected to participate in SOEM and CHCO operational and quality improvement initiatives that impact urgent care sites or virtual workflows through development and testing of order sets, discharge smart sets, and clinical decision support. The AMDI will assist the Director of Urgent Care and the Director of Clinical Operations in seeking out ways to directly reduce the documentation burden in their area and promote a culture of resiliency. Further they will support all site Medical Directors in the continued developmental and refinement of telehealth services and scope.
The AMDI should be able to demonstrate an interest in electronic health record efficiency and optimization and have prior experience completing informatics work. Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physicians with experience working in Urgent Care settings are preferred but not required.
The AMDI will be expected to complete Physician Builder Basic Certification and Epic Power User Certification with a focus on Emergency Department/Urgent Care optimizations within 3-6 months of starting if not already completed.
The AMDI reports to the MDI, is a member of the provider informatics team, and is expected to collaborate with the other MDIs, Clinical Effectiveness, and Quality Improvement teams at the discretion of the MDI. This is a hospital funded position with protected time up to 0.2 FTE depending upon experience and qualifications. Formal position description available upon request.
Examples of Work Performed
Provide clinical coverage in a mixed shift model (days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays) for a 24/7 Urgent and Emergency care network including Anschutz ED.
