We are searching for an Payroll Coordinator who is interested in taking on a variety of duties and can work cross-functionally with multiple departments.
This position is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of the University’s bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls, maintains payroll records and analyzes data to ensure accuracy. UD processes payroll in-house which includes computing paychecks, filling and remitting payroll taxes and issuing W-2s. This position will work collaboratively across departments to ensure data integrity and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Associates degree in Business, Human Resources or related field with two years of related experience which includes payroll, accounting, or human resources OR a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Human Resources.
- Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, regulations and procedures
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Experience in the following:
o Working effectively in a team setting
o Acting and working independently
o Adhering to firm deadlines
o Providing customer service to employees and supervisors
o Adapting to and initiating change for process improvements
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Human Resources
- 4 years of in-house payroll processing experience
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal payroll and related tax regulations, legislation and guidelines including, but not limited to: garnishments, child support, tax levies, subpoenas, non-resident alien and U.S. tax treaties
- Fundamental Payroll Professional or other nationally recognized payroll certification
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting access, diversity, equity and inclusion
- Experience with the following software systems: Ellucian Banner ERP HR module, Cognos reporting tool, Time Clock Plus timekeeping, Deltek Costpoint time and expense module
- Experience with Higher Education payroll processing
