Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Certified Paralegal preferred.
Position Summary
The Records Manager will serve as the primary Athletic Department point-of-contact for open records requests and is responsible for the successful execution of the open records administration for the University of Georgia Athletic Association. The position will also aid in the process of managing and supporting the maintenance, review, and production of legal and compliance documents. The position will also serve as a liaison to the UGA Open Records Manager in the Office of the VP for Marketing & Communications, who is the primary point-of-contact for open records requests for the University.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Effectively prioritize responsibilities, coordinate multiple projects, keep accurate and thorough records, and provide effective follow-up.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to communicate University and departmental policies and procedures to a broad range of constituents.
  • Contribute policy review/development providing critical input, evaluating procedures, and developing policy language.
  • Ability to multi-task with regular disruptions, while maintaining efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Possess high ethical standards and display integrity at all times.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities
Serve as primary point-of-contact for University of Georgia Athletic Association open records requests. Communicate with requestors through the UGA Campus Open Records Manager for all phases of the open records request process, including clarification of requests, fee estimates, denial explanations, exemptions, and redactions, while adhering to statutory deadlines.
  • Research and identify location(s) of potentially responsive records and collaborate with departments on production of records. Identify timelines for production. Gather and coordinate assembly of records in instances of multi-department responses. Research and analyze responsive records for potential exemptions. Work with legal staff in reviewing such exemptions. Redact exempt information from responsive records.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all communications.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion and sound decision-making when handling sensitive documents.
  • Responsible for informing and training Athletic Department staff who are involved in the open records collection process.
  • Serve as a liaison to the UGA Open Records Manager in the Office of the VP for Marketing & Communications.

Gather, manage, review, and produce documents required by law or regulation (e.g., subpoenas, discovery request, NCAA requests, etc.).

Assist with maintenance and management of records generated by staff working in the Athletics Compliance Office. Create and maintain a consistent and stringent document management system to organize records. Ensure accuracy and proper document retention.
