Position Summary:
The Associate Athletics Director for Compliance directs all aspects of the Athletics Department rules, education and compliance program for NCAA and conference, and is a member of the Athletics Department Senior Leadership Team. The position acts as the University liaison with the NCAA and affiliated conferences, and outside constituent groups regarding rules interpretations and compliance issues. They interact effectively with general counsel and the athletic department as well as coaches, student-athletes, university faculty & staff, administration, and outside entities in all aspects of athletics rules compliance through:1. the development and dissemination of rules awareness and education programs, including rules interpretations;2. creation of applicable institution and department rules, policies and processes addressing rules compliance;3. conducts monitoring (directly or through oversight of other staff) of athletic department activities and other relevant University activities to assess and investigate compliance of the athletic department and other relevant University units;4. the documentation of activities and/or findings in each of the above areas, and reporting instances of non-compliance to appropriate university administrators and to appropriate governing bodies, including NCAA and conference compliance offices
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent - Five years of NCAA Division I compliance experience
- One year of supervisory experience
- Experience with making administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues
- Demonstrated computer and organizational skills
- Experience interpreting and applying rules, regulations, and laws regarding student records
- Experience analyzing information, identifying problems, defining alternatives and developing recommendations for management/administrators
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree, Masters degree or Juris Doctorate Degree with a preference for a Juris Doctorate- Three or more years of supervisory experience- Ability to operate effectively in a competitive atmosphere- Excellent oral and written communication skills- Knowledge of NCAA and affiliated conference rules regarding the collection and retention of student-athlete enrollment data- Ability to effectively utilize computerized student information systems and NCAA Compliance Assistance software, JumpForward- Comprehensive working knowledge of university-level student registration policies, regulations, procedures, and standards- Personal and professional integrity- Ability to establish good rapport with administration, coaches, faculty, staff, and student-athletes
