Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Director of the Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities, the Assistant Research Professor position will advance data science in the disability field. As a member of a collaborative team of data scientists, the individual will be expected to combine their knowledge of disability studies and use their expertise in quantitative research methods to fulfill the following duties:
Job Description

50% - Data Science Activities: The person in this role will independently write and share scripts to clean, organize, analyze, and report data in the language of major statistical package such as SAS, R, or Mplus and lead the preparation and sharing of datasets (along with data dictionaries) in public data repositories (20%). The person will lead the development and implementation of research designs with different research teams and lead research problem-solving collecting, managing, and analyzing of data to advance research agendas (20%); and supervise tasks of graduate students assisting data science work at KUCDD (10%).

15% - Grant preparation activities: The person in this role will lead the preparation of grant application methodology and study design sections, including, but not limited to, independently determining research designs, and designing analysis plans, running simulation-based power analyses, and checking that proposed measurement instrumentation has sufficient validity evidence to fully address research questions.

15% - Dissemination of research findings: Based on results from statistical analyses related to ongoing Center grant-funded data collection, lead preparation of statistical methods and results sections for manuscripts submitted for publication or presentations for conferences or other professional meetings at local, state, and national conferences.

10% - Establish an independent line of inquiry that promotes testing/disseminating statistical methods/applications relevant to advancing disability research, including publishing methods papers and/or measurement papers in scientific journals and conferences. Lead workshops and lecturers on quantitative topics and lead study groups at KUCDD focused on statistical methodologies and applications to disability.

10% - Engage in service activities at KUCDD, LSI, KU, and/or service to the profession and service activities related to funded projects and dissemination.
Required Qualifications
  1. Doctoral degree in quantitative methods in Educational Research, Psychology, or other related field.
  2. Quantitative methods to disability research including writing scripts with SAS, R, or Mplus and writing statistical methods or analysis sections for at least one large, funded grant project in the disability field.
  3. One year experience in online survey development and feasibility testing, using Qualtrics or Survey Monkey or similar for at least one funded project.
  4. One year experience with preregistration or registered reports, sharing scripts openly in public repository (e.g., Open Science Framework) for a funded, disability-related grant project.
  5. Publications record including: one publication applying advanced data and statistical analyses to disability research, one publication applying Bayesian statistics to disability research, and one publication in measurement development for instruments in disability.
