The Curriculum and Assessment Manager for Science serves as both a content and assessment expert to develop K-12 assessments for our clients. They will support operational assessment production by leading test planning and development efforts. - Oversee the development and review of science test items and stimuli across multiple grade levels for small- and large-scale assessments.
- Generate and implement asset specifications, item development plans, test blueprints, test designs, and other ancillary documents.
- Select, assign, manage, and train item writers and educators to develop items based on standards, cognitive complexity, and item development best practices.
- Facilitate customer meetings related to item review, data review, test construction, review of composed test forms, achievement-level descriptors, standard setting, and technical advisory committees.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers as an assessment expert.
- Contribute to proposal solutions through drafting test designs and authoring text.
- Lead teams of Content and Assessment Coordinator(s) and Specialists in the design and implementation of high-stakes assessment programs.
- Work closely with other test development managers, content developers, psychometricians, and other groups as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Review and provide feedback to other item writers and ATS Staff.
- Ensure that assessment items are of high quality and developed according to specifications.
- Collaborate with other item writers on issues related to test development.
Position Requirements
- This position is hybrid, a combination of on-site and remote work as deemed by supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of teaching and science content in a K-12 setting.
- 5 years of large-scale assessment development experience.
- Expertise with science standards and related performance expectations and the measurement of them as demonstrated by application materials.
- Experience developing or revising test items aligned to science for a variety of science tests, including tests used for K-12 accountability and national benchmarks.
- Demonstrated experience with approaching Science item development in a way that integrates the multiple dimensions of the NGSS standards and incorporating the NGSS Framework dimensions— a science or engineering practice, a core disciplinary idea, and a crosscutting concept.
- Experience with demonstrating clear connections to other ideas within the disciplines of science and engineering.
- Knowledge of phases of the development, processing, scoring, and reporting of large-scale assessments as evidenced by the application.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working collaboratively and give and receive constructive feedback.
- Previous experience working with an Agile approach.
- Excellent writing skills as evidenced by application materials.
- Attention to detail as evidenced by application materials.
- Professional knowledge of science and educational trends.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to apply rules of grammar, etc., to the development of materials in content area as evidenced in application materials.
