Job Summary
The Office for Student Success is seeking a Director of the POWER center (Prevention, Outreach, and Wellness Education Resources), a new Student Success unit positioned as an easily accessible one-stop location for accessing educational opportunities focused on promoting healthy behaviors among students. Reporting to the associate vice president for Student Well-Being, the inaugural director will oversee the daily operations of the POWER center, including collaboratively building the unit’s reputation with and services for students. Leading a frontline professional team that includes health educators with specialties in general health and wellness coaching, nutrition counseling, tobacco cessation coaching, alcohol and substance use coaching, and sexual health education. In addition to managing staff, operations, and budgets for the POWER center, the director will also contribute to ongoing campus dialogues that promote student success, particularly in the area of well-being. The ideal candidate should have the ability to build and maintain a vision as well as be a flexible team player with a drive to innovate.
The Director of the POWER center will join a significantly expanded and dynamic team of leaders in the Student Well-Being area of the Office for Student Success whose units represent a sophisticated three-tier prevention and wellness infrastructure at the state’s flagship institution. In addition to the POWER center, the six other units in the area include a counseling center, a comprehensive campus recreation operation, a violence intervention center, a triage and crisis support unit, a disability resources center, and a financial wellness office.
