Athletics and recreation are important and exciting parts of student life at USM, which sponsors 23 NCAA Division III intercollegiate teams and a host of club and intramural sports opportunities. Huskies’ athletics places the highest priority on the overall quality of the educational experience and on the successful completion of all students’ academic programs.
The Coordinator of Recreation is responsible for a comprehensive recreation program that engages a diverse student population, promotes health and wellness, and enhances the quality of living and learning for students. They will oversee all functions of the University of Southern Maine’s programs in club sports (including the new e-sports program) and intramural sports, cultivate inclusive opportunities for engagement, and work closely with Sullivan Gym and Costello Sports Complex staff members to broaden recreational opportunities for students and community members.
This is a full time, 12-month position with an annual salary $52,000 plus a 10% employer retirement contribution. This position is primarily located on our Gorham campus.

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in sport management, physical education, recreation, athletic leadership or related field.
- At least one (1) year of experience in the recreation field.
- Demonstrated organization/administrative skills, interpersonal communication skills, and leadership.
