- Strong writing skills, as evidenced by first-author, peer-reviewed publications.
About the Job:
The Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota wishes to hire a full-time Post Doc. This person will work on research related to the projects funded by NIH and other sources to study immune evasion mechanisms in cancer. Notably, we are putting more effort into developing novel immunotherapies therapies using engineered tumor cell-derived exosomes and deciphering mechanisms of antitumor immune evasion. Successful candidates should be able to work in cancer immunology, develop mouse tumor models, and design combination treatments.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to the:
1. Participate in designing, implementing, and evaluating cancer research studies. Currently, we have an emphasis on the following:
a) development of cancer therapeutics based on engineered tumor exosomes
b) analyses of immunological effects and combination with immunotherapies, and
c) analyses of microbial metabolic factors affecting cancer progression
d) generating tumor organoids and developing orthotopic mouse models
The activities include immunological analyses in vitro and in vivo, combination treatment design and construction including cloning/ generation/amplification/purification, in vitro and in vivo analyses of the products based on various molecular biology techniques for evaluation of developed therapeutics, as well as collection and data analyses; reports and publication of findings. Active participation in research activity is strongly encouraged.
2. Develop research ideas, projects, and study protocols and actively participate in weekly lab meetings.
3. Prepare and Present Abstracts for Podium or Poster in scientific meetings.
4. Manuscript writing and submission to scientific journals and participation in preparing grant proposals.
